Yu Darvish continued his stretch of stellar pitching with another gem in San Diego Thursday afternoon. Darvish threw six shutout innings, allowing just two hits, while striking out 14 Padres. After losing the second and third games of this series, this was a much needed effort from the Cubs starter to try and get them back on the winning track. This game also featured Yu Darvish reaching the 200 strikeout mark for the fourth time in his career.

Darvish has done great work for the Cubs for quite some time now, and his ERA has crept down to 3.97 to show for it. Should the Cubs find themselves in some must win game down the stretch in the regular season, or a Wild Card game perhaps, Yu Darvish absolutely must be in the conversation to get the ball with the way he has been pitching.
