Though almost five weeks have passed since we’ve been blessed by Addison Russell’s exquisite defensive displays, the young shortstop’s glove still ranks best in the National League.
According to Defensive Runs Saved (DRS), Russell’s score of 14 is tops in the NL and second in MLB only to Andrelton Simmon’s 25, albeit in 63 percent fewer innings played.
Javy Baez has strolled around shortstop just fine and has made jaw-dropping plays just like Addy, but there’s no doubt that losing Russell hurts.
Get well soon, Addy. Please.
